The Details are in the Image

When I came into IS101, I had some basic knowledge using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. I had not used PowerPoint previously. While I feel I have much more knowledge in these areas, Excel is challenging to me. After IS101 I intend to improve knowledge base in these areas.

Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho was the subject of my PowerPoint presentation. The takeaway from my PowerPoint presentation, is that many people are not aware of the details that are present in a film. Details that people appreciate subconsciously, but do not realize why. This is why it is important to set a goal that people can see from the beginning.

IS101 has truly been a journey that I will remember.

Format a Survey Report and Create and Manage Workbooks, Getting Through This.

For Chapter 4, I chose LabSim skill 4.11.10 (Format A Survey Report). As part of my job, I frequently have to change information in prototype reports. Because those documents are viewed by many others, I find this LabSim helpful.

For Chapter 5, I chose 5.2.7 (Create and Manage Workbooks). I use an Excel spreadsheet daily as a log with multiple worksheets. I find this section helpful, as I was able to get tips on managing my workbooks.

I see myself getting through IS101 modestly.

Time Management 1.5.2 Online Searching Facts

Managing my time has become increasingly difficult as I navigate a full-time job, 16 credits at CSN, and all of the things that need to be done in a day. When you get behind the stress of catching up can be exhausting. Thankfully my workload will lighten up in the next month as I transition into a new position. With that transition comes many responsibilities, however, and it is important that they be executed with a degree of competence. Searching for online information effectively is an important skill for time management. Calendars and schedules will be very important moving forward.

New Experiences

Going back to school after 23 years did not seem daunting at first glance, but many things have changed since I last had a college course. I chose several online classes to avoid conflicts with work. I was told by many people it was much easier. I had never taken an online class. My experience over the last week is that online classes are much more work. You have to be very diligent in keeping track of course work, assignments and quizzes. The time that must be allocated is more than I anticipated.

I chose a class for IS101-3004 convening at the college, because I wanted to have hands on experience with an instructor present for the type of material being presented. The material being covered is going to be of particular use to me in my current employment. It has been a good experience for me as a student at CSN.
